Senior Officer - Environmental Social Governance and Investors Relations

Job Summary and Purpose

Execute Nakilat’s ESG Strategy and related initiatives in terms of managing and presenting ESG-related data analysis, building framework for ESG reporting internally, communicating with ESG global investment community, developing external, etc. In addition, the role will work closely with the Head of Investor Relations to complete a range of duties to support the organization’s investors relations initiatives. This includes but not limited to preparing presentations, developing external communication materials, analyzing investors activities, maintaining aspects of the investors relations website, coordinating investors engagement events, conducting competitive analysis, planning of investors conferences and responding to inquiries from shareholders, potential investors, and sell-side analysts.



Key Accountabilities:

ESG (Environment, Social & Governance):

1.Contribute to Nakilat’s ESG story build up and prepare all ESG content/presentations for senior management, BoD, and IR Website. 
2.Stay abreast with the latest ESG related topics/trends, and engage with rating companies, ESG companies, and global ESG investors as required.
3.Collaborate with different stakeholders to collate and analyze; environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting and performance, as well as manage ESG relevant risks and opportunities for Nakilat.
4.Handle Nakilat’s ESG reporting development, and effectively integrate ESG analysis/reporting as per all the required international ESG frameworks (e.g. GRI, IIRC, SASB, CDP, UNGC, TCFD and Poseidon Principles). 
5.Monitor the QSE’s (Qatar Stock Exchange) ESG reporting guidance, and report ESG elements as per QFMA/QSE requirements and provide recommendations for ESG reporting improvements considering the related international trends.  
6.Support the company’s ESG initiatives and provide the required recommendations to list the company in all eligible global ESG indexes such as FTSE4Good, MSCI EM ESG Leaders, Dow Jones, etc. 
7.Coordinate with ESG rating agencies which provide Nakilat’s ESG score, review their ESG reports for Nakilat, provide recommendation for Nakilat’s ESG score improvement, and answer all ESG analysts’ inquiries on Nakilat’s ESG reporting.
8.Coordinate effectively with different departments within Nakilat (i.e. SHEQ, PR, HR, Fleet, Commercial, Finance etc.) to provide their ESG inputs for Nakilat’s ESG publications. 
9.Work collaboratively with ESG analysts to assess the materiality/financial impact of ESG factors on a company’s long-term value.
10.Use the “ESG Reporting” and “Investor Relations” features on Bloomberg to expand and improve Nakilat’s IR initiatives.

Investors Relations:

11. Contribute to company’s investors relations strategy and framework development and implementation with fact-based conclusions and market insights.
12. Coordinate and organize road shows, earnings conference calls, and other investors’ related meetings/events and participate in the planning and preparation of the firm’s annual investors conference.
13. Develop and monitor performance metrics for the investor relations section.

Accountabilities - 2

14. Support the preparation of all marketing and communication efforts including press releases, investors presentations, FAQ’s, fact sheets, e-mails, etc.
15. Analyze and present financial trends, competitors’ behavior, and shareholder issues that could impact the company
16. Maintain Nakilat’s Investor Relations website dynamic (on a timely basis) and draft/edit scripts for quarterly financial results conference calls and write disclosure documents.
17. Prepare and provide all necessary data for NAKILAT’s annual general assembly and data required for communication with governing bodies.
18. Prepare for NAKILAT’s all related communications with governing bodies related to IR role, such as Qatar Exchange, Qatar Financial Market Authority, Qatar Central Securities Depository and Ministry of Economy & Commerce.  Relations with Internal and External Parties: 
19. Handle inquiries from sell-side analysts, investors and potential investors and respond appropriately or forward requirements to designated points of contact within the company.
20. Provide up-to-date information about Nakilat’s operations and financial statements to current and potential shareholders, as well as third party equity research analysts.
21. Coordinate with public relations department to support the publication of Nakilat’s annual report.  
22. Manage IR databases such as Bloomberg, Woodmac, Clarksons, Kpler, etc. and manage IR systems including vendors.
23. Create and maintain financial valuation models for strategic investment decision-making purposes.
24, Assist in creating a report based on capital markets feedback to recommend potential improvements.
25. Analyze and present financial trends, competitors’ behavior, and shareholder issues that could impact the company.

Nakilat’s Governance Report:

26. Annually review, analysis, and update Qatar Financial Markets Authority’s government code as required. 
27. Attend Qatar Financial Markets Authority workshops/seminars to stay abreast with the current and new regulations and requirements. 
28. Draft, write and update Nakilat Governance report as per new required mandates.

29. Adhere to all relevant SHEQ policies, procedures, instructions and controls so that NAKILAT provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.

30. Support the development of the ESG and Investors Relations function’s policies, procedures and system, in alignment with the international standards, and ensure their proper implementation to support achieving the different set targets and plans, hence NAKILAT strategy.


31. Appropriately handle sensitive information to prepare all aspects of confidential and sensitive documents, while ensuring critical timelines are met. As well as use good judgement in problem solving. 
32. Investigate, resolve and address issues or complaints raised by applicable governing bodies and shareholders.
33. Carry out any other duties as directed by the Head of Investors Relations.

Commercial & Business Development – to discuss LNG shipping market updates and obtain input for ESG reporting. 
PR department division – review and coordinate ESG annual report (s). All other related departments – As required.


ESG Shareholders, investors, analysts - to provide overview of ESG and financial position as well as to address any enquiries. 
Auditors - to provide financial performance overview of operations and other relevant financial material for audit purposes.
ESG Asset managers and rating agencies – to maintain & enhance Nakilat rating.  
Governing Bodies for ESG – Qatar Exchange, Qatar Financial Management Authority, and other government institutions – to coordinate and manage ESG related requests.

Financial Authorities
Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills


Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Chemical/Environmental Engineering. Master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics, finance, engineering, (environmental) science is a plus.  
Advanced certificates in related field (CFA, ESG, CIR) is an advantage


6 to 8 years of relevant ESG experience in a similar position at a multinational company, 3 out of which should be in ESG reporting, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, equity research analysis.

Job Specific Skills:

Strong understanding of ESG topics/frameworks (e.g. GRI, IIRC, SASB, CDP, UNGC, TCFD and Poseidon Principles) and their relevance for ESG reporting and integration.
Knowledge of financial concepts and statistical/analytical methods and ability to use data effectively for reporting, and financial modeling purposes. 
Advanced knowledge of applicable rules and regulations of Qatar Exchange, Qatar Financial Markets Authority and Qatar Commercial law.
