Job Summary and Purpose

To provide technical expertise and build safety culture to all internal stakeholders, especially Shipwright section, by providing recommendations, managing training, conducting inspections, and engaging with external key stakeholders to ensure safe, robust, technically acceptable scaffold structures for all designs.

Accountabilities

1.   Plan, prepare, and monitor the scaffolding safety guideline, instruction, and practice to ensure Qatar Shipyard continues to deliver outstanding performance safely.
2.  Develop content material and deliver the training in several different disciplines, including Scaffolding, Lifting and Slinging, and Manual Handling to meet operational needs and ensure continued professional development and competence is maintained by the team.
3. Provide technical advice or recommendation to the internal organization, particularly Shipwrights Section in capacity as their Subject Matter Expert by providing information and supportwhilst attending external key stakeholder meetings.
4.  Build safety culture in the area by influencing scaffolders and relevant roles.
5.  Serve as liaison officer to deal with legislative requirements, clients and where appropriate certifications bodies.
6.  Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
7. Prioritize wellbeing of themselves and their colleagues while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Adhere to all health & safety protocols, participate in wellbeing & wellness programs, and promptly report any concerns regarding the wellbeing of oneself & others in order to foster a culture of best practice.

Internal: HSSEQ Manager / HSE Staff / Operations Staff / All Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions sections and departments

Purpose: 
• Scaffolding Safety Officer role will make decisions on internal and external trainer resources, which in turn will impact on financial performance within the department.

• Optimum resource allocation    

External: QatarEnergy/RLIC + Auditing Parties + Government Bodies + Clients and stakeholders

Purpose: 

• Scaffolding Safety Officer will engage with key external stakeholders to assist with shaping the department strategy.

• Scaffolding Safety Officer will also engage with key external stakeholders to assist the Shipwrights Department Scaffolding Head in the shaping of their training requirements.

Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any equivalent.
• Certified Insurance Service Representative Certification (Preferable)
• Must have held a Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) Card for 10 years and hold a CISRS Advanced Card


Experience:
• 10 years of experience of the relative occupational area or a similar role in the construction trade, preferably with some other industries such as vessels, energy, or in offshore.
• With supervisory / Management experience, and have the skills and ability to influence our team in training the next generation and upskilling the existing workforce in the scaffolding sector.
