Job Summary and Purpose
Conduct due diligence inspections of all hull matters during the construction of LNG vessels to be built at the selected shipbuilding site for the Nakilat newbuilding programs. Included are any formal inspections, tests, which may be scheduled outside of the main shipbuilding facility.
Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Attend to regular inspections and provide oversight of the shipbuilder's production of the vessel(s) currently under construction at shipbuilding site. Specific areas of concern include all hull construction matters such as steel cutting and structural fitting, welding, hull arrangements, hull outfit, hull systems and other related work.
- Ensure that the shipbuilder's efforts fully meet the expectations of the shareholders and are in accordance with the Shipbuilding Contract, specifications, approved plans, class and regulatory requirements and the various memorandums of agreement.
- Attend and report on scheduled inspections tests, demonstrations in accordance with the shipbuilder's published schedule for these activities.
- Coordinate with the other Inspectors as may be required.
- Ensure that all shareholder SHES policies are fully implemented and adhered to and act to bring areas of concern to the immediate attention of the Safety Coordinator and the Site Team Manager.
- Adhere to schedules to meet vessel's delivery.

- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Others:
- Carry out any other related duties as directed by Hull Lead to support the shipbuilding initiatives and projects.
Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering or similar qualification
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the construction of large vessels, including at least two (2) years of direct shipbuilding experience involved with the construction of LNG earners, or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the ship construction business.
Job Specific Skills:
- Proficiency in and have experience in hull steel work and structural fitting, welding, hull arrangements, hull outfit, hull systems and other related items.
- Good written and spoken English language skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to be used when dealing with individuals of various levels of authority and of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Above average leadership and problem-solving skills when faced with complex ship construction issues.
- Proficient in the use of word processor and spreadsheet software (especially Microsoft Word and Excel), including the ability to prepare periodical status reports.
