Job Summary and Purpose
Provide technical and engineering expertise during the design development and plan review phases programs, at shipbuilding locations. Participate in all design development issues, the plan review and approval effort, vendor review and selection, and other technical issues. Support ongoing production programs with responsibility in the areas of vessel propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery systems, engine room arrangements, piping systems, and general design areas. Participate in design meetings with the selected shipbuilders, and attend equipment shop tests, vessel trials, and deliveries.
Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical expertise in the areas of vessel propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery systems, engine room arrangements, piping systems, and general design areas involving proven marine engineering skills.
- Serve as a primary point of contact in the plan approval team in these areas during the design development phases of the various newbuilding programs.
- Supervise various contract technical personnel that may be assigned specific design development and/or plan review tasks in his area of expertise.
- Assist in vendor review, approval, and selection for major items of equipment falling in his area of expertise.
- Identify any special issues that may be of significance to the Engineering Manager and the Team Leader(s) as may be applicable.
- Identify cost changes and design changes that may improve the vessel's design to the Engineering Lead and Team Leader(s) for consideration for approval.
- Coordinate efforts with the other members of the Core Technical Pool as required.
- Coordinate efforts with the terminal and Ship-Shore Interface personnel as required.

- Carry out any other related duties as directed by Engineering Manager to support the shipbuilding initiatives and projects.
Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, or equivalent experience as a Chief Engineer of a large bulk liquids vessel.
Experience:
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the design and construction of large vessels, including at least five (5) years involved with the design and construction of LNG carriers or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations, including those of the classification societies and international marine regulatory authorities.
- In-depth knowledge of ships and terminals operation and the LNG transportation industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the ship design and construction business.
Job Specific Skills:
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to be used when dealing with individuals of various levels of authority and of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of word processor, spreadsheet. and presentation software (especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), including the ability to prepare professional reports and presentations.
