Job Summary and Purpose

Develop analysis, program, and plan prior to coordinate its implementation to ensure mandatory tests, monitoring, clearing, storage and transportation of NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) waste is undertaken in a timely and efficient manner, in adherence with compliance regulations, for all LNG projects visiting Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions for any works. 

Accountabilities

1.    Evaluate and provide recommendations on approved service providers for NORM to control/review the quality of the initial NORM results and after completing the decontamination work.
2.    Review, validate and recommend through report the technologies that will be used to decontaminate equipment contaminated by NORM, and prepare related reports and analysis with this regard.
3.    Develop and submit reports of radiation protection programs in the process of decontaminating NORM, and facilitate its implementation
4.    Develop and submit reports of radiation emergency plan to be approved by the respective authorities as required, and ensure its implementation. 
5.    Recommend appropriate number of radiation workers who have experience in the field of decontaminating equipment contaminated by NORM according to the size and nature of the company's work
6.    Recommend, monitor, and control radiation measuring devices including enough devices to measure NORM pollutants and radiation doses.
7.    Identify and ensure provision of equipment, devices and personal protective equipment necessary to decontaminate equipment contaminated by NORM, and attach a list of these equipment, devices and personal protective equipment.
8.    Ensure the provision of containers with the required specifications in which the removed NORM will be collected.
9.     Provide a temporary storage facility licensed by the respective authorities to collect NORM waste resulting from periodic decontamination works before transferring it to Qatar Energy’s NORM storage facilities.
10.    Prioritizes his own and his colleagues’ wellbeing while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Adheres to all health & safety protocols, participates in wellbeing & wellness Programmes, and promptly reports any concerns regarding the wellbeing of oneself & others in order to foster a culture of best practice.
11.    Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills

Qualifications:
•    University Degree / Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nuclear Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Medical Physics, Science or any related field or its equivalent.
•    Qualification and/or Certification on Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).
Experience:
•    A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar safety position
•    Working experience in Management of (NORM) and/or related environment, preferably in Offshore, Marine or Shipyard industry.
•    Experience in the field of other radiation scopes like NDT
